In a perfect world there can be so many possibilities. There can be the student who is always attentive and does what he/she must do. Start on their homework right away and finish time without procrastinating. The student would study very hard everyday and finish projects done with creativity and effort. The student would have no missing assignments and would get A+ on all their tests. My point is that students these days have it too easy and the educational system should become much more stricter. On the other hand the teachers also need improvement. SOME should not even be teachers.

A perfect world with teachers having the ability to teach in such a way that every student wouldn’t need to struggle in a class. Well then that would be awesome. I believe that its easy to describe the perfect world but we will never grasp it, but we cant try. Maybe making things a bit more challenging and/or having to do some hands-on experimenting will make the brain function better. Instead of just having to read out of the text book and respond to questions on a worksheet we should motivate student to become more active. The purpose of education is to get you started in life and living with knowledge inside your brain that helps you in certain situations. In general, your educations determines the direction of your life, future and your country. I believe if we all focus more on education and teaching/learning skills then we will all have a brighter future ahead of us. Overall I hope they add more hours and longer days to our school attendance because 180 is not enough! EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT!

The controversial anti-illegal immigration law has caught the attention of many states in the U.S and Mexico. I am against the Senate Bill 1070 that was signed by the Gov. of Arizona, Jan Brewer. I am not for it because I believe that there hasn’t been enough effort in finding different ways to stop immigration. Yes I understand that they are desperate for this law but we have to face that facts that this law is unconstitutional and violates the rights given to the people (in the Fourth Amendment). The Justice Department filed a lawsuit against Arizona because they say that the new law violates the rule of “preemption”. Meaning that the state law is trying to take the precedence of the federal law.

I am aware of the guidelines that the Arizona police was given to enforce the SB 1070 so they can avoid racial profiling. My question is how exactly are they going to determine who is an illegal immigrant without actually having to discriminate? The law says the police must have a “reasonable suspicion” but if you think about it what may be reasonable for one person may not be reasonable for the other, this is when contradiction is brought up. I am aware that the protection and security of the citizens living in Arizona is important but we also must comprehend that this law is wrong and very discriminatory. We must build walls if they want protection, making a law that puts down a certain race will come back to bite you in the rear end. For example, Arizona is very dependent on Mexico when it comes to trading produce but with Mexico boycotting Arizona no trading will be done and thus Arizona will lose money and make their economy hurt. Overall Arizona will lose $4.5 billion worth of products that is shipped to Mexico. Once this law takes its effect on July 29 we will see that Arizona really needs the immigrants.

Monday July 12

Regarding our conversation in class about the War in Afghanistan, I went home and brought up the conversation with my mom. Me and her debated about whether we should pull-out of the war or continue what we have been doing for the past nine years. I argued with my mom by questioning why she wanted to pull-out of the war, don’t get me wrong I agreed with my mom in every way but I wanted to spice things up a little bit and oppose her opinion. I asked her “mom what do you think about the war in Afghanistan? Do you think we should stay there longer or just leave?” she quickly answered by saying “what the freak are we still doing there? What have we accomplished this whole time being there?” from there on we discussed for about thirty minutes or so. To my surprise my mom knew much more according to the war, well much more than me of course. My mom started telling me about why she thinks we should leave Afghanistan, what she said was pretty reasonable and I can see where she was coming from. I then started asking her “why shouldn’t we stay there longer? If we pull-out it will make the U.S look really weak.” She then began telling me that “we are wasting too much money and most of that money we don’t even have, that’s why are our economy is so low. And also we lost way too many soldiers, why do we want more to die for something that seems endless?” I then told her “then what will happen to the soldiers that died? Will they just die for no real victory just because we decided to pull-out of the war?” she then said “that’s why we should pull-out so no more soldiers will die”.

Throughout the whole discussion we both raised our voices and exchanged each other’s ideas. I’m really glad I had this conversation with my mom because I noticed how much the war impacts my own family. At about eleven o’clock tonight we will be going to the LAX to go pick up my uncle who will be returning from the army, but we don’t know how long he will be staying because they might send him to Afghanistan or Iraq. I don’t want him to go there I already have a friend who was in the army for eight years and she’s now 26 and disabled for life because she got this illness that when you touch her she easily get bruises and I fell really bad that the war that hasn’t accomplished anything affect such young people and leave them disabled. I also discussed this topic with my cousin Andy and he was undeceive whether to stay in or pull-out. I then talked to my uncle (my mom’s brother) about this and he’s very convinced that “we should stay in the war because we are too far into this mess and we would look bad in the eyes of others by pulling out”. Overall I realized the purpose for this war and that is…power.

Our economical damage is caused by something that the people are in need of, employment. There are millions of people who are unemployed and are in desperate need to work and get paid. Unemployment has caused people to act in drastic measures, “desperate times calls for desperate needs” this is something that the mass has in their mind when they don’t know what to do. The choices people take on affect them and the economy. Some can’t afford to pay their rent/mortgage anymore because they are unemployed. If people aren’t paying or working to get paid then the money is not being regulated leaving the economy frozen. It seems as though people are becoming more confident to spend money now and are using their money instead of saving it. Unemployment in my opinion has the most affect on teenagers and college students who just graduated.

With no way for students to get money to pay for their expenses and college tuition, they ask for loans, which they later become in debt. You see, everything is like a domino effect. There is war which pleads for billions of dollars, we go in debt, there is no money for schools, budget cuts, less jobs, prices go up, it’s a disaster. We need to create new jobs, President Barack Obama created jobs for thousands of people to help with the census. We should continue to find different ways to assemble new jobs for those who are unemployed. There must be a way we can help our economy be better, the question is how? Who? And when? Overall if we get people to start working I believe it will get the economy up and running perfectly again.
